My Teaching Philosophy
My goal in teaching is to facilitate understanding of the course materials, aid students in the application of core concepts and theories of political science and encourage critical evaluation of these concepts and theories. I design everything from the syllabus, to lectures, activities, and assessments with these goals in mind. There are three core elements of my teaching philosophy that guide me in these efforts. First, I keep the learning objective for students at the center of the course design. Second, I work to create a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful learning environment. Finally, I promote intellectual curiosity and critical thinking through active engagement in the classroom.
